The role of the Oversight committee is to ensure that the Institute fulfils its mandate as described in the IDIA founding agreement. In summary, IDIA is mandated to set up a research cloud infrastructure, to manage it, to make it available to researchers at its partner universities and to support its users. IDIA researchers use this infrastructure for research and teaching of their graduate students. This develops skills and creates the capacity in South Africa to make use of, and benefit from large radio data sets such as from SARAO’s MeerKAT telescope.
