The upcoming Looking At the Distant Universe with the MeerKAT Array (LADUMA) survey on MeerKAT will be the deepest HI survey of galaxies to date. Simulations of mock data cubes are vital in terms of enabling us to test and refine our data analysis methods (e.g., source-finding and stacking) for very large datasets and to aid in the interpretation of our scientific results. The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with Prof. Catherine Cress (UWC) and Prof. Rachel Somerville (Rutgers) on generating realistic mock radio datacubes based on semi-analytic models (Somerville et al.) and hydrodynamic simulations (Dave et al). These models directly predict HI content, molecular gas content, star formation activity, and AGN activity, which will be converted into mock cubes including HI line emission, OH, and thermal+non-thermal radio continuum.
